NEXT Collective is a group of heavyweight US jazz musicians. they’ve put together an album covering some of their favorite artists and reinterpreting them from a jazz perspective… material by Little Dragon, Jay Z and Kanye West, D’Angelo, N.E.R.D, Stereolab, Drake, Meshell Ndegeocello and more gets reworked by Logan Richardson (sax), Walter Smith III (sax), Matthew Stevens (guitar), Gerald Clayton (keys), Kris Bowers (keys), Ben Williams (bass), Jamire Williams (drums) and guest trumpeter Christian Scott. All killing musicians individually (Jamire and Ben have been featured on my own CHURCH shows too), and collectively they’ve done something really interesting with their album ‘Cover Art’.
